Spanish Professor uses Skype in the Classroom

In this photo, Dr. Sandy Cypess' class on Contemporary Mexican Literature & Culture "skypes" with guest speaker and Maryland Graduate Student, Tanya Huntington (ABD).

Ms. Huntington is currently living in Mexico City and answered questions from the class about her translation of a short story by Professor Emeritus José Emilio Pacheco. The talk also took place at the same time Mexico City was shut down over swine flu fears and students were able to hear first hand in Spanish what life was like under the generalized city curfew.

Skype can be used for voice or video calls. If you are curious about Skype, we can help you set up an account and/or discuss the logistics or possibilities for your class. Janel's skype ID is janelbrennan if you want to try it out for yourself. Read a short description here to find out how Marquette University Spanish students are using Skype in the classroom
